賛美歌106番『Angels We Have Heard On High／荒野の果てに（あらののはてに）』は、フランスの伝統的キャロル『Les Anges dans nos Campagnes』が原曲とされている。英語版の歌詞は、１８６２年にJames Chadwick.によって翻訳されたものが有名。
歌詞の中ではラテン語で書かれたコーラス部分の「Gloria in Excelsis Deo! (グローリア・イン・エクセルシス・デオ！』の部分が特に有名。英語では"Glory to God in the highest"。
歌い方は、「グローリア」と短く歌うのではなく、「グローーーオーーーー、オーーーー、オーーーーリア」と４小節分全部使い切って一息で歌い切る。なお、『Ding Dong Merrily On High／ ディンドン空高く（ディンドン鐘が鳴る）』でも同様の歌い方をする部分がある。
ちなみに、この「Gloria in Excelsis Deo! (グローリア・イン・エクセルシス・デオ！」という曲名は、それ自体が別の賛美歌の名前でもある。日本（カトリック）では、「あめのみつかいの」(聖歌集121番)として歌われている。
